Create your own postcard during PostSecret Exhibition

Dates: 5/16/2008

The Brevard Art Museum and six Brevard County libraries are inviting residents to share their memories and secrets in an interactive art collaboration with the Museum’s PostSecret exhibition, May 16 to July 13.

The public can have an interactive experience by creating a postcard, which may become part of a special art exhibition at the Museum. Selected postcards will be displayed at the east entrance of the Brevard Art Museum during the PostSecret exhibition.

All adult residents, museum members, library members, and artists are encouraged to participate and to see the exhibition at the Museum for inspiration.

The Museum will have special “creation stations” set up with art supplies where patrons can create their message onsite. Postcards created at the Museum are to focus on a memory or an anonymous secret of the creator. Libraries are asking patrons to create a postcard based on a favorite book or favorite library memory and mail their postcards to a participating library.

Those postcards with secrets will be collected separately and mailed to Frank Warren, creator and originator of PostSecret, but only if they conform to the guidelines Mr. Warren has established - the secret must be true, anonymous, and must never have been revealed before.  The Brevard Art Museum is the only venue in Florida to host the PostSecret exhibition, which features more than 400 of the most powerful, poignant, and beautifully intimate postcards Warren has received.

The following libraries will be participating in the collaboration:

Central Brevard Public Library, 308 Forrest Ave., Cocoa, (321) 633-1792

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Public Library, 955 E. University Blvd., Melbourne, (321) 952-4511

Eau Gallie Public Library, 1521 Pineapple Ave., Melbourne, (321) 255-4304

Titusville Public Library, 2121 S. Hopkins Ave., Titusville, (321) 264-5026
